No better test than playing the Stanley cup champions. This was the game I was waiting for.

After the second intermission I started drafting a post , I was pissed off and had a fat Rambo tirade on cue… then I remembered… this is Babcock hockey… I’d better wait. And sure enough this team found a way.

Both teams seemed to have a way to wear the other down. This could very well be a scf preview. 5 on 5 seemed to go the canes way.. but alas. A win is a win.

My takeaway is that the canes were missing some of their talent and with that in mind… that win can’t be seen as a proof of concept but it does offer hope. we need some upgrades at deadline if we want a cup. Defensive depth and an upgrade on Jarry.

Ekholm out is gonna show us how deep our Dee is. A good test. But I do think we will need a big piece there

Devon Levi is an absolute beauty. 6-1-0.. but the timely epic saves .. never letting in weak sauce . This guy is just getting started. But he needs support and some breathers and more importantly.. mentoring

Obviously our two guys are the best guys .. but especially 97.. the GOAT. Nice to see them being set up to succeed

Go oilers !
