Showing some cracks.
I’ve been all about Mike Babcock.. I really do think he’s doing a great job and that he has a great vision for the team. .. I’m on board with him… but one issue I’ve already pointed out , cost us a game tonight .
PP1 only getting 60 seconds. This is an unforced error.
The roster is depleted. We have a lot of injuries. Our second unit is basically ahl. Why give them equal play?
It seemed quite clear early in this game that Utah was rolling their lines and taking advantage of our missing personnel. That makes our power plays absolutely critical. Especially when we are failing to kill well.
That first power play we got was an absolutely crucial powerplay .. we could have made it 1-1 .. that would have shifted some momentum. Instead pp1 played 60. Then… He did it again with our second pp at 3-1.
If there’s anything that’s been clear about that first unit it’s that 1 minute is not long enough. It’s never been. Them knowing they only get a minute doesn’t help their mindset either .. they without doubt feel rushed.
With all that said, the team is absolutely plagued by injuries right now and the fact we are 5-1-1 is a great look. But I don’t like this powerplay bs at the moment. I don’t think it would have been impossible to win this one and take it to 6-0-1 or at least steal a point. But alas we squandered 2 power plays. And 2 points.
I’ll also mention that I did not like seeing Frederic being moved up the lineup. He has been looking half decent on the 4th line.. and that’s about the only place he could ever look good. He should be moving from ahl to fourth line. That is all.
Again.. injuries are plaguing us so I reserve judgement.
When you have the best pp in history.. you give them 90 seconds . That’s how you win hockey games.
Levi stopped every single puck a goalie would be expected to stop. Shakir scored one and seemed to stabilize later in the game but otherwise he does not look nhl ready.. with all that size he can’t box anyone out and only seems to use his size to screen his goalie.
Hallender is a force .. he’s so strong on the puck .. I wanna see more of this kid . Joseph is also great.
Eager to see a healthy roster
